Kinja'd!!!

But I did learn one thing: my wife HATES these Camry coupes. She normally doesn’t give two shits about cars. You can see the pain in her eyes when I blather on about the allroad or the Paseo. Extreme indifference. But when I told her last week that I wanted to buy that Purple 377k-mile SE Coupe I posted on here, she actually had an opinion:

“That car... is SO ugly, and it’s automatic? This is nothing like any of the other cars you like!”

Just so you all know, my wife went from “you should buy something nice and safe and maybe automatic” to “you should buy something you love so you can keep it instead of selling it every year and shopping for cars all the time.”

This is totally unfair. Yeah I’ve bought six vehicles in the last six years, sold five of them, sold my last car after just five months of ownership but... Where was I going with this again?

That Camry coupe is awesome. SO MUCH cooler than the fugly-ass Solara that tried to be marketed as a separate model.

Coupes look better, and are better, when they are just 2-door versions of their sedan counterparts. (of course, this only applies to cars that are available in both coupe and sedan form)

Yes, the only thing that makes this coupe imperfect is the fact that you cant get a stick with the V6 SE

I’ve been driving for 26 years and have owned somewhere in the neighborhood of 40-45 cars...6 in 6 years is pretty mild I’d say, just tell her it could be worse!

IMO, half the fun is finding new ones. Sometimes I trip on them and they follow me home, sometimes they require some searching. At the end of the day it’s all part of my love affair with cars. Enjoy, you’re doing it right.

ugh...Solara. Only thing worse is the Solara convertible. I think the price of entry for those is menopause and gray hair.

The first solara looks good. The second looks like a blob.

Hey! Don’t talk about my new baby like that! I’ve had it less than a week (it replaces my beautiful Mazda 6 that someone destroyed), and I’m still trying to get used to it. In person it has a strange elegance in some ways. Just happy it has 4 wheels and is reliable. Now I’m gonna go cry about my Mazda 6, which is sitting in a pile in my yard

I have been driving for about twenty years. I have owned 6 cars. I currently own 1/3 of them.

I’ve decided to go a solid adult route on my next car. I’m not aiming for cheapest I can get that runs. I am trying to future proof myself. Therefore I am searching for a four door F150 with 100k miles or less.

Wouldn’t you want your Wife driving something safer?

Safety tech has come so far since then. Something from at least the mid 2000's would be way safer. Side curtain airbags plus they’d be way more advanced.

Thank God Toyota listened and threw in a stick for the first-gen Solara V6.

The Camry and Accord from the early to mid-1990s had extremely solid engineering and quality.

Not overly fancy, just solidly good cars.

What’s your budget and what area are you looking in?

Don’t know how I misread that.

Do yourself a favour and get something more interesting.

Friend owned a mint Camry Coupe in high school. Was pretty boring. Unique but nothing else really.
